Biography

About

Chris has established himself as a prominent figure in the world of music. As a performer, composer and arranger, his portfolio is hugely diverse, ranging from his own Jazz quintet to international projects with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and Academy Award Winner A R Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours).

He began his professional career at Southampton University, where he specialised in Jazz. He went on to achieve a Distinction in his Masters in Music at Royal Holloway, University of London, before completing a PhD scholarship in Composition. Nowadays, alongside his professional performances, he lectures in Studio Composition, Orchestration and Jazz History at Royal Holloway. He masterly combines his performing and facilitating talents leading samba and drumming workshops with Echo Fox Events across the UK and Europe, including performances at Parklife Festival, and a successful Guinness World Record attempt in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Chris has enjoyed a varied and impressive array of performances during his career which have earned him his place as one of the most prolific musicians in the UK. Some of his most notable experiences include arranging for the Metropole Orchestra, orchestrating for some of the top films and composers in India (2.0, Zero) and having his work featured on ITV, E4 (Coach Trip) and the BBC (Watchdog, Top Gear). He has also performed with Jack Jones, Guy Barker, Tim Garland and Queen Legend Brian May. His talents have led to his extensive performances with BBC Proms, National Youth Jazz Orchestra and given him the opportunity to work with renowned composer and conductor Vince Mendoza, and Grammy award-winning vocalist Gregory Porter. 

Chris is most certainly ‘One to Watch’ as stated by Jazzwise magazine. He has an impressive and worldly repertoire which has been honed to perfection through his diverse performance opportunities and ensured he is the perfect asset to any function or event.
